7 SIMPLE THINGS YOU CAN DO TODAY TO FEEL MORE POSITIVE

Every day has something positive in it and yeah sure, some days you just have to look a little harder.  I am constantly striving to see the positive in every aspect of my life but I will admit, it’s not always easy.

 

 

 

Here are my 7 things you can do to bring more positivity and happiness into your life.

 

Write daily in a gratitude journal

Several studies have found gratitude to be linked with positive emotions, and overall well-being and life satisfaction.  When you write be specific!

 

Share positivity

By doing one kind act every day. Send someone a thank you email or thinking of you. There are several studies that show that acts of kindness can boost happiness, reduce depression and even help you live longer.

 

Challenge your negative thinking

Examine the situation by asking yourself, “Is there another more positive way I could view this?”  Copious research have shown that being able to think optimistically is good for your health and overall well-being.

 

Listen to music that sounds the way you want to feel

Did you know that listening to happy music can in fact make you feel happier? Research has shown that music activates the region of the brain that releases the feel good chemical dopamine which can also relax the body.

 

Smile

It’s as simple as it sounds, but research has shown that it actually helps you feel happier.  Feedback sent to the brain from facial muscles can actually impact the development of emotions and the effect is even stronger if you combine the smile with a positive thought.  Go ahead and try it. Smile at the next cute kid or man you see!

 

Follow your passion

Do something that makes you feel excited.  Take a class to learn something new.  Several studies have shown that people who feel a sense of meaning in their life are healthier, live longer and have greater life satisfaction.

 

Meditate

Even just a few minutes of meditation a day has been shown to improve mood, decrease stress and improve sleep.  Regular meditators are calmer, have greater self-awareness and have better focus too.

 

So you can see, it’s not hard to feel more positive, it just requires a new way of thinking.
